Short version: what you do in MealWhim stays in your browser.
What stays on your device
The tools run as JavaScript in your browser. The site is a set of static files; there is no MealWhim server that receives what you type, paste or tick. These things are saved in your browser's local storage, on this device only, so they are there next time:
- your weekly meal plan, ticked grocery items and any aisle changes;
- your favourite meal ideas;
- the ingredients ticked in the pantry finder;
- your light or dark theme choice and your °F or °C choice on the meat chart.
Clearing your browser's site data removes them. In a private window they may not be kept at all.
Share links
When you make a share link in the meal planner, the plan is compressed into the part of the link after the # sign. Browsers don't send that part to the website, so the plan only travels where you send the link. Anyone with the link can see the meals and ingredient lines in it.
Analytics
MealWhim uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which Cloudflare adds to pages served from this domain. It counts page views without cookies or cross-site tracking and never receives what you type, paste or tick in the tools. There are no ads, no other analytics, no cookies set by MealWhim and no accounts.
Links to other sites
Pages link to sources such as the USDA and King Arthur Baking, to sister sites and to two other free tools, CleanTempMail and WebTraceCheck. Those sites have their own privacy policies; MealWhim sends them nothing.
